Professional Development

Ina Petkova discovered her love for the piano at the age of seven, when she began private lessons. She considers herself fortunate to have studied under two exceptional teachers from Russia and Ukraine, both classically trained in the renowned Russian piano method. Their influence instilled in her not only strong technical foundations but also a lifelong appreciation for artistry and expression.

At fourteen, Ina was accepted into the prestigious National Music School Panayot Pipkov, Pleven, Bulgaria, where she majored in Piano Performance. At the music school, she also studied solfege, music theory, harmony, polyphony, music history, chamber music, methods in teaching music, general pedagogy, and teaching practice.

Ina went on to study at St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria, where she was taught by Prof. Dr. Mariana Buleva, who remains one of her biggest inspirational figures.

In 2007, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Music and Piano.

After university, Ina performed as a pianist in a chamber ensemble at various events and venues while also beginning her career teaching piano with a special focus on developing correct technique and musicality in young beginners.

In 2009, Ina moved to London, where she gained valuable experience teaching a wider range of students, including adult learners and children with special educational needs. Shortly after, her career took her to Dubai, where she spent ten years teaching students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced.

Ina worked at a highly rated Music Institute in Dubai, preparing students for various and well-established music board exams, performances, and concerts.

Her career brought Ina back to London where she continue to offer thoughtful and well rounded piano lessons. “My students inspire me every day and I am constantly moved by how music enriches their lives – nurturing creativity, confidence, discipline and emotional growth.”

Teaching Style & Philosophy

When teaching beginners, Ina places great importance on developing correct technique and building strong foundational skills. For older and more advanced students, she designs individualized plans tailored to their goals and aspirations. Ina adapts her approach to support students with special needs, guided by her belief that music is for everyone. Her lessons incorporate a wide variety of musical styles, creating a positive and encouraging environment where effort and achievement are recognized and celebrated. Students are motivated to grow continuously, enjoying creativity and joy in their learning.

Ina is very passionate about teaching and feels grateful to have had the most amazing teachers who shaped her own musical journey. They inspire her to pass on the knowledge, skills, and love for music. As she says: “It makes me really happy when I see the joy, creativity, and inspiration that music brings into my students’ lives.”
